My Muse

…and I asked; What do you find pretty about me, my face or my spirit? and he replied ” What kind of trick question is this? Your face is beautiful and your Spirit is absolutely incredible.”

My muse is a one of a kind soul who can make me feel light as a feather as I run through my thoughts to form a story. He need not say much to ignite a strong desire to sit and create a symphony of words that soothe the body, mind and spirit. This is how paramount he is to this universe, calming all souls he comes into contact with.

I believe my muse entered into my season and has become the reason of this lifetime, for he entered my space at a very fragile time, he was the “tic-toc” of my clock and has then become a pivotal gift in my writing.

Kahlil Gibran wrote in The Prophet on friendship;

“Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.”

Many of us go through life never fully understanding our purpose nor the value of our existence. We avoid all honesty of our emotions for fear of rejection. I tell my friends I love them every-time we speak and I feed their ego’s with truth and admiration. I was gifted a funny “just because” card from my muse and the words he chose for me were just awesome, he wrote:  “Your genuity, sarcasm, artistry, wisdom and friendship are very much appreciated.”

Why did his words caress me in such a way? Simply because, I am an artist, and being artsy requires me to be different, an eccentric if you will, a creative badass in control of my chaos and my calm.

On a weekend birthday celebration in November 2018, I met a tall, dark and handsome man selling his hand-painted ouija boards outside the gates of the famous Lafayette Cemetery in New Orleans, I found his funny and dark sense of humor interesting and one post caught my attention and it read; “I am a dark lullaby whispered by the wind” Black Rose Parlor

How amazing to find a phrase to be so deep for me? then I thought, well, I am always dressed in black…. Black clothing is the most attractive, self-assured, confidence exuding and calming color there is – for me.  My muse calls me “The Lady in Black” but I must admit that although my armor is head to toe black, my soul is as vibrant as the rainbow and I wear the shit out of the color of truth. I wear black like the Queen of England wears her bejeweled crown, Proud and Fierce.

I am thankful for the many blessing of my life and today, I write about the one gift that I am over the moon about, My Muse. My Handsome Bearded Enigma, I write about you because my cup runneth over with stories and I must keep pouring as my cup is continually filled with your laughter and silence and advice and spirit of reason. I pour forth with confidence of maintaining a glass full of words, of stories, of moments. Gracias.

~It is very important to remember that outer beauty is fleeting, to have an absolutely incredible, awe inspiring, caring, no nonsense, one of a kind attitude spirit is everlasting. Be Beautiful, inside, then out. Be brave. Be strong. Wear Black!!!

For you my muse, Mi MUSA, You!!
